Long drives in an electric car are easier than many people expect. Planning your charging stops before you leave is the main difference from a petrol trip.
Before you leave
- Charge to 90–100% the night before, ideally on a slower AC charger.
- Check your car's real-world range at highway speed, which is usually lower than the official figure.
- Open the EVee Buddy app and mark fast chargers along your route.
- Keep a backup station in mind for every planned stop.
On the road
- Plan to stop when you reach 15–20%, not when the battery is almost empty.
- Use DC fast chargers and charge to about 80%; above that, charging slows down.
- Steady speeds use less energy than frequent hard acceleration.
- AC use and heavy loads reduce range, so allow a margin.
At the charger
- Check live availability in the app before you arrive.
- No app? Scan the QR code on the charger and pay by UPI.
- Use the charging time for a meal or a rest.
Arriving
If you are staying overnight, ask whether your hotel has AC charging. Waking up to a full battery makes the next day's drive simple.
